All true ministry is directed by the Holy Spirit.

Often, the church’s ministry has been diluted by men who do their best but operate out of their natural skills and abilities, though refined by the best of training. Then there is the scandal of excess and abuse by some who don’t seem to believe God works except in spectacular and dramatic ways.

We believe the Holy Spirit is sent to us to make Jesus’ life real in us and Jesus’ ministry real through us. It is He who initiates all work. It is He who promotes and motivates true ministry, and it is He who brings every Spirit-initiated work to a conclusion that brings glory to God above.

The Holy Spirit can be trusted to do what is best for each local body. He manifests His gifts in whatever ways will edify the people and glorify God. We refuse to put any limits on what can happen except the ones He has put there Himself in the inspiration of Scripture. We recognize the need for the full expression of the life of Jesus and trust Him to bring that forth.

Though His work is always supernatural, it is not always spectacular, and it is never manipulative. It is sometimes surprising but will always have Jesus as the center of focus and peace as the outcome. We don’t require any certain manifestation to be the proof of His presence or the seal of God’s pleasure. He has made us supernaturally natural, and we intend to enjoy His work of making Jesus real to us in every way. We receive His ministry of silence with as much gratitude as the excitement of physical miracles performed.

He is the source of our life and power and gives us the necessary abilities to recognize His works and distinguish them from the counterfeit works of the deceiver. What a joy to be out of man’s control and under His control!
