Through the years we have helped plant four churches in various parts of Spain. We will continue helping plant churches, particularly reaching out to the youth generation.
We will continue to provide training in mechanics, computers and English and will continue organizing sports clubs. All this is to keep the youth off the streets, help give them hope for the future, and provide a means to make relationship as well as share Jesus.
We will continue to organize and carry out the Operación Bernabé renewal week-ends for Latin American missionaries and Spanish pastors.
We will continue to organize the El Kampa camp for Latin American missionary kids serving in Spain, Europe and northern Africa.
Operación Bernabé
Operación Bernabé is an all expenses paid three-day retreat for Latin American missionaries and Spanish pastors and wives who minister in Spain. It is a retreat where they can come to Rest, Relax and be Restored. We take time to pray for the hurts they have experienced as they minister in Spain. We have times of sharing in the Word to renew. You hear lots of laughter!
Why is it needed? The Latin missionaries in Spain do so in many "out of the way" cities, and at times they are the only believers there. They come with high expectations...only to fall into deep discouragement when the Spaniards do not respond as expected. For the Spanish pastors, ministering in a "dry" land means suffering isolation. For those working in small pueblos and towns, there is no network of pastor friends where they can seek encouragement. Operación Bernabé offers both these groups a place to share, make friends and find hope.
We need your help. Operación Bernabé works because there are people and churches in the United States and Spain who give so we can bless these brothers and sisters. Each week-end costs $10,000 for the 70 people who are invited to attend. Would you consider giving so we can bless Spain with restored missionaries and pastors? May God bless you!
El Kampa
What is it? El Kampa is a five-day camp for the teen-age children of Latin American missionaries ministering in Spain. It is a HIGH RISK camp that stretches each camper. It's purpose is to help these teens adapt to missionary life by identifying who they are as Third Culture Kids.
What is a Third Culture Kid (TCK)? A person who has spent a significant part of his/her developmental years in a culture other than the parents' culture. The TCK develops a sense of relationship to all the cultures they live in while not have having full ownership in any.
Why is it needed? When the Latin American TCK hits the teen years they begin to wrestle with their self-identity. The TCK feels different, for s/he is part of the culture, but not totally. Thus, many flounder in their emotional development and set aside their relationships with Jesus. El Kampa is there to help them identify who they are and give them tools to root themselves in the cultures where God has put them. El Kampa provides new relationships with other TCKs who love Jesus and can help the new TCK renew his/her relationship with Jesus.
How can you help? The Kampa is an all-expense paid camping experience for the 50+ campers we invite each summer. For $150 a year you can sponsor one of these teens for a camping experience they will not soon forget.
